Turquoise Top

I have said several times in previous posts that turquoise is one of my favourite colours, so my eyes lit up when I spotted this top in my size in a 50 pence bargain basket in a charity shop. It was in excellent condition so it was a win win situation for me!

It is still humid and dry here in the UK so I have had to spend a lot of time each evening watering my plants. The vegetables really do need some rain and my runner beans in particular are suffering in the dry spell. The potatoes however have done well and I have been harvesting them for several weeks. We also have a good crop of tomatoes and cucumbers.
I have been particularly pleased at my floral tubs this year. This one has african marigolds, petunias, snapdragons and begonias. They should remain in bloom until late September and brighten up my patio.

Keeping Cool

With temperatures of over 30C last week and extremely humid weather it has been a challenge to keep cool.
At work we are lucky to have very efficient air conditioning system but you still get hot travelling to and from the office. During the evenings and at weekend I can at least dress more appropriately for the conditions and I was lucky to buy this skirt recently in a charity shop for £3.50.

It is in a very pale shade of green and almost ankle length. The cotton material  has two lace like effect decorative bands and it is ideal for the current weather conditions.

My top is in my favorite turquoise colour  and has been in my wardrobe for several years. I think it goes well with my new to me skirt.

Are you coping well in the heat wave?

Gold Top

Just occasionally I buy something outside my comfort zone and it happened twice this week. Firstly I spotted this gold short sleeved top which cost me £2.00. I thought it would be a useful addition to my evening attire. We don't go out that often for evening meals or trips to the theatre etc but it is always good to have something suitable to wear when the situation arises. I have a lot of black skirts (for the office) and it tones well with them.
My second purchase is this red dress. I don't have that many red items of clothing but I liked the style and it is of a length that I like to preserve my modest standards. It cost £4.50 and with the settled warm spell of weather here in the UK at the moment my summer dresses are getting plenty of wear at weekends.

Do you like venturing outside your comfort zone with clothes every now and again?

Patterned Top

I am pleased to say that our weather has improved during the past week and it is now quite warm, if a little humid.

I have been busy in the garden this weekend and I am beginning to pick some crops which makes all the hard work earlier in the year seem worthwhile. I have so far picked strawberries, peas, french beans and cucumbers. It will not be long before the tomatoes start to ripen and the runner beans and potatoes become ready.

My charity shop finds - this week I came across this short sleeved cotton top for £1.50. The temperatures improved just in time for me to wear it yesterday. It is not in the colours I usually wear but it is always good to have a change now and again and lilac on black is certainly different for me.

What do you think?

More Charity Shop Bargains

Sorry about the lack of a post last week. We visited some relatives on Saturday and somehow all my spare time vanished. Anyway,I bought this blue top recently in a half price bin for 75p. At that price you can't go far wrong but I do apologise for the fact that it is somewhat skewed in the photo. Hannah is out for the day so I couldn't get her to retake the shot.
This dress cost me £3.50 and is a pale floral design. It is a pity that the weather in the UK has been so wet and windy during the past 10 days, so much so that I have reverted to wearing trousers again as you can see in the top picture. However I am sure things will soon improve and I will be able to wear this dress during weekends and on holiday. It is just below knee length, the length I prefer to maintain my modest standard of dress. Oh - in case you wondered, I would have worn a tunic or similar garment with my trousers if I had been in a public place!

Have you managed to find any bargains recently?
